My favorite New watches.

Louis Erard x Worn and Wound - Lé Regulateur

Worn & Wound takes Louis Erard’s Regulator and turns it into a vibrant indie hit! The idea of having the seconds and hours as rotating individual wheels, instead of hands, maximizes the watch's motion, with a background dial that radiates outward, drawing your attention in to all that dang movement.

Breguet - Experimentale 1

No… You can’t afford it, but Breguet is finally joining the rest of us in 2025 with a magnetic constant-force tourbillon, housed in a case that is quintessentially Breguet, yet looks like Doc Brown brought it back from the future. The question is, how far did he have to go?!

Omega - Planet Ocean 600m

Every time a big brand thoroughly updates a staple in its collection, it’s going to split the crowd. Half are going to love it; half are going to hate it; and of the half that hate it, half of them will end up loving it. I’m not putting myself through the hoops on this one. This is better looking than the previous version—done.

What makes them awesome?

Sophie has become a force within the watch community as an artist, a collector, and a positive voice. I first met Sophie early in 2025 at British Watchmaker’s Day, where I saw her design work on the Isotope BWD limited edition pieces. I didn’t expect to be able to meet the artist behind them as well. Since then, I’ve kept in touch with Sophie and have seen her presence grow exponentially in our community.

We are a lucky lot, the #WatchFam, to have such talent in our ranks. To see Sophie go from designing watch dials to providing commissioned artwork for showrooms and events is just a delight. Her work expresses a love of horology and human ingenuity by mirroring it through her own creativity.

Here are some of Sophie’s current faves:

  1. Most Recently Acquired Watch - The Lange Saxonia in 18k white gold (Ref. 215.029). I’ve loved Lange for as long as I’ve been collecting watches. The brand encompasses sophistication, elegance, and refinement, not something that naturally echoes my own personality, but it is something I try to reach for in my art practice.

I originally had my eye on the Zeitwerk, but the Saxonia, one of their more accessible pieces, kept pulling me in. I wasn’t even looking to buy, but on one of my many trips to London, I tried it on, and it screamed, “Buy me, damn it!” Some watches can be wonderfully persuasive.

  2. Favorite Watch to Recommend to a Newb - It really depends on their budget. For an entry-level piece it has to be a retro Swatch. They are pure, unadulterated fun. That said, my Casio F-91W is my go-to when I’m in a rush. It’s slim, effortless, and has all the complications you could ever need at an absolutely bargain price.

Around the £1k mark, I’d absolutely point them towards the microbrand sphere. For a flex with real impact, anything from Isotope is delightful and quirky. If they’re after a true one-watch GADA piece, the Clemence Munro Spindrift is where I’d spend my money.

  3. Favorite Independent/Micro Brand - I’m deeply passionate about micro and independent brands, and right now Farer sits at the top of my list. They genuinely have something for everyone, and their use of colour is exceptional... bold, confident, and often clashed to brilliant effect.

I’ve been besotted with their Bernina Titanium Chrono-Sport in Alpine White for some time, but their new Moonphase Stratton feels perfect for this season. It’s the kind of case that would glisten by the fireside or look right at home at a glamorous evening event.

For old-fashioned charm, I look to French indie Semper & Adhuc. Colin is a magician. He breathes new life into vintage watches with incredible sensitivity and artistry.

  4. Another Artist that Inspires Sophie - At university, I discovered fashion photography, particularly from the 1980s and 90s. Nan Goldin, Helmut Newton, and RANKIN, whom I briefly worked for, became the visual backdrop to my youth.

Their black-and-white photography is gorgeously stark and deeply contrasted. Most importantly, it tells a story. All things I constantly try to replicate with a pencil in my own artwork.
